Tanzania is in general a safe, hassle-free country. That said, you do need to take the usual precautions and keep up with government travel advisories. Avoid isolated areas, especially isolated stretches of beach. In cities and tourist areas take a taxi at night. Only take taxis from established taxi ranks or hotels. Never enter a taxi that already has someone else in it other than the driver. Never pay any money for a safari or trek in advance until you’ve thoroughly checked out the company, and never pay any money at all outside the company’s office.

As long as you stay up-to-date with your vaccinations and take basic preventive measures, you’re unlikely to succumb to most of the possible health hazards. While Tanzania has an impressive selection of tropical diseases on offer, it’s more likely you’ll get a bout of diarrhoea or a cold than a more exotic malady. The main exception to this is malaria, which is a real risk throughout much of the country. Road accidents are the other main threat to your health.

Much like any reputable travel company, Woodland Trek & Safaris is financially bonded. What does this mean? It means that any deposit you make with us is protected by a bonding agency. In our case, we’re bonded with the Tanzania Association of Tour Operators {TATO}, a credible member-driven organisation that has been operating successfully since 2016. To become a TATO member, businesses must annually prove that they adhere to the highest standards of financial integrity, professionalism and service. Our TATO bond is essentially an insurance policy, protecting you, the consumer. So when booking with us, you can be confident that your investment in a luxury African safari with us is protected.
